Remembrance.

For someone so independent, so secluded, in love with the world, with her own flesh, nothing so far able to slow her down, to keep her down. Freedom ran through her veins, adventure interlaced with adrenaline, the mixture of the two made her thirst for the unknown grow, thrive inside her heart. Love as it’s know, is evil. It weakens even the most powerful, can drive the mind to insanity, causes irrationality. In this can tame even the wildest of dragons. No one would of thought something as meaningless as love would cause the woman’s life to come to a complete stop. All focus, time, attention, energy, and love poured out into something so fragile, innocent, so beautiful as a child. The soft bound of his hair, the gentle sound of his laugh, the sweet innocence in his cries, the warmth of a pudgy finger was enough to bring the new mother to tears. Never having felt a reason to cry, encased in a cage, her heart was dull and hollow. Now it was filled to capacity with her undying, everlasting love for the boy, for her son. Although their time would be brief, cut short by the realization of the looming danger, the risk crawling ever closer with each passing day. “Nero,” the mother whispered as the infant slept peacefully beside her. It was their last night together, he had to be saved from a life of despair, letting go of him would be the hardest thing she would ever have to do. “My sweet Nero,” she said gently wrapping her arms around her child, caressing his pale locks and placing chaste kisses against his plump pink cheeks,”Hear my voice, take it into your heart, never forget my words, my voice, your mother’s voice…” she whispered. Warm tears streamed down her pale cheeks, “I can only hope you’ll find happiness in the world, I know you will make me proud, I…I can’t explain the love my heart harbors for you, the love you have given me, in the span of only a few days, you are the most important thing in this world Nero, my lovely Nero…” she said through quiet sobs, filled with misery, with regret. “When you feel alone, abandoned….remember my voice, remember and know in your heart, that I will always be with you.” she cooed silently into the infants ear. “I know we will meet again some day, my love.” she said softly, eyes closing, the tears dying down for now.
